For those of you that know me (and Shawn) – we’ve had quite the road to this engagement.  Check out Shawn back in 2003 at my high school prom …

Back in March Shawn & I took a red-eye flight over to Ireland.  We both drugged ourselves with a little Tylenol PM (highly recommended for red-eye flights), so I slept like a champ – poor Shawn on the other hand had a little rock on his mind, unknown to me, so he didn’t sleep as well.  We landed in Dublin @ 5:15 AM where Kate and Tony (our Irish “Mom & Dad”) were picking us up.  We were on cloud 9 to be in Ireland, the sun was rising and Kate and Tony were going to take us on a scenic drive through the Wicklow Mountains in Glendalough on our way to Cork.  Life was good.  We got to the Mountains so early (because I messed up the plan and said I wasn’t hungry for breakfast yet) that the gates were closed, but Tony, Kate and Shawn had all pre-planned what was about to go down.  We walked out to the upper Lake and I was sooo excited because it was a photographers dream, out comes my camera and I’m snapping away because the reflection was unreal.  Sneaky Kate asks if I want a picture of Shawn and I together and I’m pumped, rewind to before we go on the trip and I’m giving Shawn a speech on how we need to be good about taking pictures together because I’ve been so anti-pictures since I’ve started taking pictures.  We get together for a photo (note the ring in Shawn’s right pocket)…

and Shawn starts to pull away.  I turn and start to say “Shawn, I told you we need to take pic…” and then it hits me… he has a ring box and he’s getting down on one knee.

So, the next natural thing to say, “No Shawn, it’s 6 AM… I look like a boy”.  Aggh.. this was real life and it was happening.

After I got over the whole looking like a boy thing (and having jazz hands – see above) – I said yes, we toured Ireland, London & Scotland (kind of, I was happy we were engaged for our Bridesmaid like food poisoning scene that happened there – that’s true love) and now the wedding planning is in full swing!  I’ve always loved everything weddings and now I love that I can relate to my brides.  I’m looking forward to a wonderful 2013 wedding season!

I’m hoping to be better about blog posting – I really need to be (so I don’t get locked out of my blog again)!

Unfortunately, my second shooter was scheduled to fly up from Pittsburgh for the weekend and her flight was canceled.  Jon and Julie knew that if they were going through with their wedding day, I was going to be there with my camera in hand ready to catch all of their special moments.  I crossed the bridge the night before with lots of batteries charged up ready to take on the world.  Special thank you to Shawn (my boyfriend who I’ve neglected this wedding season) for being a superstar and hanging out in the dark all weekend/keeping me sane.  We lost power in our hotel right before I set out to go and meet Julie and her awesome bridal party at their hotel.

And here is my first ever, Hurricane Bride… Julie, isn’t she beautiful?!

Julie just got back from volunteering in Nimule, Republic of South Sudan and brought back gifts for all of her bridesmaids.  We used a few of them for the ring shots.  Here is one of them:

Jon & Julie did an almost “first look”… they held hands through a doorway, without looking at each other before the ceremony began and said a few last words to each other.  I loved this idea!  It is such a fun alternative to doing a “first look” for those couples who do not want to see one another before they walk down the aisle…

during the ceremony… it was amazing.  Whenever I hear the song now, I immediately think of Jon & Julie!

Onto Christie & Zack’s big day! It was a magical night on the Odyssey… literally a photographer’s dream.  Christie & Zack are such a fun couple who are surrounded by a group of friends and family who love them unconditionally – the candid shots of the day show so much love and happiness, it’s silly.  I don’t think Zack could look at his beautiful bride without smiling and Christie was glowing all day long.  Lightroom has some incredible editing features that allowed me to really highlight the amazing sky in these frames and I am uber (love this word) excited about how they turned out!

I had the pleasure of having Gabe Kaplan assist me for Christie & Zack’s wedding.  I knew Gabe was the man for the pictures that we were going to be able to get on the top deck of the Odyssey because he is incredible with lighting.

The first kiss… on a boat in Boston Harbor with the sun shining!! If you look closely you can see a helicopter in the cloud… I told you it was magical!!!

It is official, I am the worst blogger ever!  This season has been extremely busy… in the best possible way ever.  I have had shoots almost every weekend and have been working with some of the areas greatest photographers.  And, I accepted a promotion at my full time job too.  Life is good to say the least!  I cannot believe it is already August and that I’ll be shooting 5 weddings over the next few weeks.  I promise I will get some goodies up on the blog from the last couple of months and I’ll be sure to post all the exciting things coming up too!

Shailesh & Amisha had a beautiful day for their wedding.  The sun was shining and they couldn’t have picked a more beautiful location for their celebration.  Here is a collection of some of the images we took before their ceremony.  I will post the ceremony pictures in a later posting…

True love…

- They are getting married down the Cape, which is one of the most magical places on the earth.

- Julie was a bridesmaid in the first wedding I ever shot as the main photographer (the second shooter Myra Kushon from the wedding will be shooting their wedding with me in August … soooo excited), so it is a really big compliment to have her book us!

- They are one of the most in love couples I have ever worked with, which makes my job as a photographer really easy.

I told you Cape Cod is magical… So in love…

In addition to all of the weddings I am shooting this year, I have 8 weddings that I will be attending.  Yes, 8… 2 of which I am in the bridal party… which brings me to the next set of images, Ted & Leah.  Simply put, they are the best.  I could literally go on forever about how happy I am that my best friend Ted is marrying someone as wonderful as Leah.  We have had some amazing times together over the years, minus that time I had to leave dinner early in Chicago (oops) and I am so honored to be a part of their special day.

We took their photos at the Arnold Arboretum the day before the Lilac Festival, which was absolutely beautiful except for the fact that we literally got POURED on at the end of the shoot and saw serious lightening bolts.
